Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust Fund
The Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust Fund is a 100% local charity, with all money raised used to support cancer services in our local region.
With your support, the Trust is able to enhance the wonderful treatment and care provided at the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre. We do this by investing in new life-saving medical equipment, staff training and development, and cancer research.
We also fund a range of services through the Wellness Centre which aim to support the emotional, physical and psychological needs of patients in conjunction with their medical treatment.
The Trust is a not-for-profit organisation, governed by a volunteer board of local business and community representatives.
With tax deductibility and gift recipient status, the board ensures that donations from individuals and businesses in the community are directed solely to support cancer services in the Albury-Wodonga region.
Where does the money go?
The Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust Fund will allocate your donation to the service area most in need.
The four main areas of consideration are:

New life-saving medical equipment;

Staff training and development;

Cancer research; and

Wellness Centre programs and support services.
New life-saving medical equipment
Your support allows us to expand the range of life-saving medical equipment available to cancer patients in our region. In the past, this has included specialist diagnostic and laser equipment previously only available in capital cities.
Some examples are:
- EU ME3 Endoscopic Ultrasound system ($313,836) – to enhances the precision of Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) procedure, leading to more accurate diagnosis;
- Blanket warmer and chair ($15,412) – to support paitent comfort while recieving care.
- Provation endoscopy project ($70,030)
- Purchase of 3x Electrolarynx's ($115,000) – Handheld devices that paitents who have lost their voice box to allowing them to vocalise and communicate.
Staff training and development
Funds raised by the Trust ensure that our staff are trained in best practice cancer care.
We have investeded $115,000 in 2024-2025 to an Oncology Education Program, offering professional development, training and scholarship opportunities for both staff working within the centre, as well as those caring for patients out in the community.
We also fund a Nursing Scholarship Program which provides financial assistance to staff wishing to undertake post graduate study in oncology. This offers staff the opportunity to further develop their skills and provide an advanced level of care to our patients.
Cancer research
Research conducted at the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre aims to give patients local access to high quality clinical trials, improve outcomes for cancer patients and impact on the future direction of cancer treatment.
As well as funding equipment vital to clinical trials, the Trust also invests $110,000 a year in additional staff dedicated to researching prostate and ovarian cancers.
Wellness Centre
The Wellness Centre provides extra support to cancer patients and their families when they need it the most.
Through the Wellness Centre, the Trust Fund invests $474,000 a year in a range of programs and services that aim to support the psychological, emotional and spiritual needs of our patients.
Some examples of how this funding is used include exercise oncology, mindfulness and counselling services, as well as the provision of relevant cancer information and links with local support groups.
All donations made to the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust Fund are fully tax deductible.
The Foundation is a non-for-profit community based organisation with a mission to enhance the quality of life for people with a cancer diagnosis and their families who live in the Albury Wodonga region.
The AWCF has strived for improved local cancer services, treatment options and played a major role in the enhancement of these services including lobbying Federal Government to commit to the establishment of the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre which is now a reality. The Albury Wodonga community now has one of the leading cancer services in Regional Australia.
One of the AWCF main projects and expenditures is the AWCF provides financial assistance to patients who find themselves in financial difficulty due to their cancer. The normal assistance is up to $700 but in exceptional circumstances the AWCF provides in excess of the $700.
This years Sunshine Ride will make the Foundation a beneficary of 20% of the total amount rasied.
