In Memory of Julie Barrass
Julie was a loving wife to Terry, cherished Mum to her two girls Renae and Jacquie and their husbands, and adored Nanna to her four grandchildren.
Julie was a very exuberant, positive lady that made the most of life. She was a very kind hearted person and made long lasting relationships. Julie was an active member of the local Inner Wheel Organisation, which is a group of female volunteers who are active in fundraising. Julie loved the company of the Inner Wheel ladies.
Unfortunately Julie had a long relationship with cancer. Her battle started in 1998 at the young age of 46, where she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Being the positive person she was, she fought that with her can do attitude and got through all that cancer threw at her. We were ecstatic when after 5 years she was cleared and in remission. Sadly in 2017, Julie knew something serious was wrong and was told the original breast cancer had slowly metastasized and come back in her lungs. She was told it won't be curable, however treatable to prolong her life and give her more time. She did everything she had to do, to see her young grandchildren grow including seeing the birth of her fourth grandchild, her first granddaughter.
Having a local cancer hospital extended Julie's life for as long as possible. She was beautifully cared for by her oncologist Dr Craig Underhill, whom was a big advocate to get a local Cancer Hospital in the region. The family would also like to thank the staff for their love and care in Julies last days in the cancer hospital where she sadly passed away, on 24th January 2023, aged 71.
We know Julie was well loved and any donation in her honour is greatly appreciated, hoping it will help with treatment for future generations.
