Sunshine Walk 2024

I'm walking to support local families impacted by cancer

I'm fundraising to support the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust Fund. Regional people deserve the very best in treatment and care, just like people in capital cities.

Every cent I raise will stay in our region to help local people impacted by cancer. People going through the cancer journey should be able to do it close to home, where they can be supported by their family, friends and communities.

The funds we raise through the Sunshine Walk will help pay for new equipment for earlier diagnosis and treatment. It will pay for staff training, so the local workforce can stay up to date with the rapidly changing world of cancer treatment. It will be invested in research, providing local people access to national drug trials, and it will support wellness services, like psychology, exercise programs and support groups.

Everyone in our community knows someone affected by cancer, so let's come together to support this vital local service. Every dollar counts!

Bindi’s Brigade ☀️🌻💛

Saturday 14th Sep
When one of my closest & dearest friends was diagnosed with breast cancer, it shook all of us to our core. She’s the fittest, most sensible person I know—always conscious of what she ate, how much she drank, and how often she exercised. Running through freezing winter mornings wasn’t just something she did; it was part of who she is. So, when the news came, it felt surreal. How could this happen to our girl, affectionately known as Binni/Bindi / B

But in true form, she faced it head-on. Even during chemo, she kept running.  While many would see that as madness, I saw it as her unyielding spirit. She wasn’t running from cancer; she was running toward life.

Being by her side during this journey has taught me so much about strength, resilience, and the power of showing up—physically, emotionally, and in every small way that counts. Sometimes, it’s just sitting, & being present & talking about anything but cancer.

In addition to supporting her emotionally, I felt a need to take action for the wider community that’s fighting this disease.

My dad is also a recipient of the wonderful services that are provided to us locally.

This is why I am asking for your help in supporting our Team for Albury Wodonga cancer council trust fund ‘Sunshine Walk’ to support our local cancer hospital and services.

They’ve provided life-saving care for Bin and countless others in our area, and they depend on community support to keep doing their important work. Whether through local events, online campaigns, or simply spreading the word, every little bit helps these incredible services continue to offer cutting-edge treatments, support programs, and hope to those affected by cancer.

If you’re in a position to donate or join our team - the Bindi Brigade on our Sunshine Walk, every cent goes back into our local services and every cent counts ☀️💛🌻
