Sunshine Walk 2025

I'm walking to support Mal, and other local families impacted by cancer

I’m fundraising to support the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust Fund because everyone in regional areas deserves the very best treatment and care, just like those in major cities.

As many of you know, Mal has been a patient of the Cancer Centre for the past couple of years. Having access to local treatment and support allows a sense of normality to continue, when your whole world is on shaky ground.

Every dollar I raise will stay within our community to help local people impacted by cancer, and let's face it, we all know someone! Those facing the cancer journey should be able to do so close to home, surrounded by the love and support of their families, friends, and communities.

The funds raised through the Sunshine Walk will help purchase new equipment for earlier diagnosis and treatment, fund staff training to keep our local workforce up to date with the latest in cancer care, support vital research and provide local access to national drug trials. Additionally, it will help fund wellness services such as psychology, exercise programs, and support groups.

Cancer affects us all. Let’s come together to support this essential local service. Every dollar truly makes a difference!

My Hero

Wednesday 10th Sep
My beloved Mal called it quits on August 26th. He had thrown everything offered at this disease, but after three years, his body could take no more. He had signed up for his third walk this year, as he had been grateful to the Centre for  being able to provide him with local treatments, which enabled him to live at home, go to work and have his family support him. Before passing, Mal prepared for what was ahead, and asked that in lieu of flowers, donations were to be made to Team Wild Oates for this year's walk. So this year Myself and my family shall walk in Mal's honor, celebrating a life lived well.

My hero

Saturday 30th Aug
After almost three years of attending the Regional cancer centre, Mal fully endorsed the benefits of local treatment. There’s nothing like being close to family and home during life’s challenges.
Mal passed away last Tuesday, but I still intend to  walk the 20km in honour of my soul mate.

Please accept this gift in loving memory of Mal. His courage, kindness, and the love you shared touched so many hearts including mine. I hope this small gesture brings comfort and honors the legacy he leaves behind. May you feel surrounded by love, and may his memory continue to shine through the stories you carry, the traditions you keep, and the quiet moments that remind you he’s still near. With heartfelt sympathy and all my love, Keri
